Get Hands on with CAM

The focus of the training course is to take a fundamental understanding of SOLIDWORKS and SolidCAM and show how toolpaths can be then taken to the machine where the parts can be cut.

This course will also show how outputted code from SolidCAM can be checked to ensure that the machine will cut without issue or collision.

Sheet Metal training

SigmaNEST

The SigmaNEST profile course introduces users to the core functionality of SigmaNEST. Starting with an overview of the interface, we progress by exploring the range of 2D CAD tools the system has to offer before importing data from a range of formats such as SOLIDWORKS, IGES, DWG and more.

As the course develops we look in more detail at the specific profiling and nesting controls available. Throughout the duration of the course we will look at the various reporting aspects of SigmaNEST from nest reporting to quoting, works orders, stock control and more.

An additional range of technology specific SigmaNEST courses are available (ie punch, router).

  • Participants should ideally should be familiar with the basic windows operating system
  • Basic 2D CAD experience as well as some knowledge of sheet metal nesting and profiling will be useful but not essential

SWOOD Design

SWOOD Design is a bespoke set of tools for SOLIDWORKS designed specifically to help automate the design of your furniture projects.

During the course you will learn how to build a bespoke and intelligent library of panels, frames, connectors and intelligent SWOOD box models that will allow you to quickly create new furniture designs, complete with all the required manufacturing detail by using simple drag and drop from your library.

Throughout the course we will explore the benefits of SWOOD Design reporting.

  • SWOOD Design is a SOLIDWORKS add-in and works in conjunction with the core SOLIDWORKS toolset
  • It is recommended that participants should have attended the SOLIDWORKS Essentials training or the CAD Essentials For CAM Users Training Course.

SWOOD CAM

SWOOD CAM facilitates the programming of CNC toolpaths directly onto your SOLIDWORKS models. During the 2 day course you will learn how to apply a range of different machining operations directly onto your part in preparation for manufacture.

Lessons also focus on the construction of your tool and aggregate library as well as a machining library for quick access to your most commonly used machining operations.

Once we have covered the wide range of programming operations we take a look at the SWOOD CAM nesting capabilities (additional module) before exploring the power of SWOOD CAM simulation and reporting.

  • SWOOD CAM is a SOLIDWORKS add-in and works in conjunction with the core SOLIDWORKS toolset. It is recommended that participants should have attended the SOLIDWORKS Essentials training or the Solid Solutions CAD CAM Essentials course.

    Experience in wood routing and or CNC programming is not essential but can be beneficial.
