Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
SOLIDWORKS Inspection uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to read information from PDF documents and Tiff files. The dimension value and type can be read along with plus or minus tolerances which all help to eliminate virtually all manual input and reduce errors. It works with vertical and horizontal dimensions, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols, notes, hole callouts, finish symbols and split dimensions.

Each characteristic value can be entered manually, by using a digital calliper connected through a USB port, or by importing coordinate measuring machine (CMM) results.
Measurements Input provides a way to enter the actual measured values into an inspection project. As the measured values are entered, SOLIDWORKS Inspection Professional compares the required value with the entered value. The measured values are then highlighted to indicate In Tolerance, Out of Tolerance or Marginally Within Tolerance. The software then shades the measurement cell and the ballooned characteristic in the drawing. green. red or yellow, respectively, based on the status. The colour settings are customizable.
Import Measurement Values
