Drawing new light on Curtain Design with SOLIDWORKS

When fashion designer Priscilla Bradley was looking to re-model her home in Suffolk she went through a frustrating period of looking for the right interior products and services.

And like most designers, rather than put up with the lack of choice, she took matters into her own hands to design, among other things, curtain poles.

Tapping into her local artisan contacts, Priscilla began to develop a brand that was all about thoughtful design, attention to detail and impeccable product quality. 

More than 25-years on, she is the now the owner and director of The Bradley Collection - a leader in curtain pole and track design, with 12 collections (including two fabric collections) and supplying major UK retailers including John Lewis as well as UK and US hotel and casino brands.

NT CADCAM was first introduced to The Bradley Collection in 2002, when its design team wanted to move from AutoCAD 2D to SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD. The company wanted to diversify its product offering and revamp its design workflows and SOLIDWORKS was a perfect fit in helping the team improve every aspect of their workflows from conceptual design and design analysis to prototyping and materials. 

Design manager Tom Brewster says: “Being able to visualise design intent is incredibly important to us in innovating new designs,” he says. “2D drawings can’t always convey the design intent but visuals and exploded visuals are an incredible tool. With SOLIDWORKS, the advantage is we can tweak the design as we go and get drawings from the updated designs instantly. We can then send out technical information to manufacturers or visuals to clients very fast.”

The company is now able to offer a truly bespoke interior design brand. Using SOLIDWORKS it has been able to meet new market challenges head on and quickly evolve the product range to reflect new trends and fashions.
