| Kennedy Hygiene Products is a leading manufacturer of Washroom products. In the nineteen eighties, the introduction of the Kennedy Rondo towel dispenser with its internal electronics led to the world's first fully single use cabinet, spawning a host of imitators and becoming the standard throughout Europe within a decade.
Recognising these qualities, the Elis Group (a leading laundry and textile rental company) acquired Kennedy Hygiene Products, with the acquisition came massive investment in advanced manufacturing and R&D facilities at our new custom-built site.
As well as reinforcing our commitment to increasing standards of washroom hygiene and customer service, this led to a strategy of developing products to meet the ever higher expectations we encourage our customers to demand.
With the introduction of SolidWorks we now complete 100% of the design work in-house, and have dramatically reduced the turn-around for prototyping and verifying our designs. In all, the introduction of SolidWorks has radically reduced our design to manufacture time allowing us to bring new products to the market far earlier than was previously possible.
We have found that SolidWorks has helped us to design new products in an extremely logical way due to its ability to work with large assemblies fully in-context, and then designing individual parts to fit within the constraints of the assembly. The generation of 2D working drawings from the 3D data is so fast and painless now that it has allowed us to spend more time producing better designs.
The investment of SolidWorks into the company was significant, but just the reduced design time alone has already more than justified the investment.
NT CADCAM are an excellent company to work with and have been very helpful in the implementation of a new network of machines into the R&D department. Their support staff are very understanding of engineering design, and have helped on numerous occasions in resolving complex modelling manoeuvres. I would strongly recommend SolidWorks as a 3D design tool, and NT CADCAM as a supplier to anyone considering buying SolidWorks.
