| Geo. Kingsbury designs and builds equipment for testing automobile and truck transmissions, transfer cases, axles and steering gears. Their powertrain test stands are used by GM, Ford, Daimler Chrysler, BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Nissan, Honda, Kia and many other major OEM vehicle manufacturers. Four decades of engineering experience, product knowledge, design expertise, reputation for quality, and competitive pricing give Geo. Kingsbury an edge over the completion.
They design large complex assemblies and so needed a 3D system that would be able to handle these quickly and efficiently. They needed to improve the quality of all design. They also wanted to use the system to assist the sales by allowing them to show customers what they were buying before they buy.
SolidWorks has allowed them to improve the quality of all their designs even the most complex assemblies. It has helped them improve sales because they are able to show customers products to help them visualise. They also use SolidWorks to produce better quality manuals with exploded views. After two years of building the library they are now realising how much time this saves them.
"We have moved into SolidWorks slowly and are now starting to realise what it gives us. It saves us allot of time and reduces the errors. We can now produce much better manuals, but the best thing has been that we can now show a customer a product before we make it. This helps the customer visualise."
