SolidWorks Tip/Tricks: Modify Imported CAD
Models with ease |
One way to edit imported models easily without having to have any feature
history is to use the “move face” command.
In the example
below we have a requirement to reduce the width of the pocket by 15mm.
|
 |
The original model
has been drawn in another CAD program and imported into SolidWorks so
contains no feature history.
The “Move
Face” command found under “Insert – Face –
Move” on the pull down menus, allows us to select the faces of
the model we want to move and then specify an offset distance. |
 |
 |
| Finishing
the operation results in the faces being moved over by the specified distance.
|
 |
Move
Face is a useful tool that can save designers a lot of time editing imported
models when traditionally the features would have to be re drawn from scratch.
